Collaboration

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) aims to address the city’s transportation problems and contribute to making it more livable, accessible, and nature- and people-oriented, while also supporting local and higher-level goals for social and economic development.

This plan is developed based on the principles of environmental, economic, and social sustainability, and strategically manages the city’s transportation systems, infrastructure, policies, and services.

Sustainable urban mobility plans include elements such as the development of public transport systems, the creation of pedestrian and bicycle paths, the improvement of traffic management, prioritizing accessibility for people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups, and reducing environmental impacts.

These plans are developed in an integrated manner with existing plans, through the participation of city administrations, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders. This approach incorporates the ideas and needs of residents and relevant stakeholders into the planning process.

What Can Be Achieved with SUMP?

Efficiency and cost can be optimized.

Air and noise pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption can be reduced.

Overall safety, especially road safety, can be increased.

By trying to meet transportation needs in different ways, both human and environmental health can be protected.

Decisions on how to travel from one place to another can be made and planned through collective reasoning.

Travel times can be shortened, leading to savings.
