Stakeholder

Stakeholder participation aims to contribute to the development of the project by bringing together various perspectives and ideas at every stage of the planning process. In the SUMP process, the contributions of stakeholders and citizens are of great importance. This participation seeks to improve the quality of planning by taking into account the needs and requirements of different segments of society.

The goal is to establish a democratic planning process in which decisions are made with public involvement, rather than through a top-down approach.

For participation to be fair, reasonable, and long-term, stakeholders should be included in the process at different levels and stages. Therefore, the contributions of those affected by the project, those who have influence or power over the project, and those interested in the SUMP detailing process are evaluated in a balanced way. The approaches of planning authorities are also significant in this assessment.

Categories such as “informing, consulting, including, collaborating, and empowering” are recognized approaches to classify the elements of participation.
