Within the scope of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Trabzon, the eighth Project Steering Committee Meeting was held on 14 August 2025, hosted by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the EU Investments Department, the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, and experts from the contractor consortium TYPSA & Boğaziçi Proje & KAISER Engineering.

Hosted by Mr. Gurkan UCUNCU, Secretary General of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, the meeting was also attended by Mr. Burak AYKAN, Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye; Ph.D Tijen IGCI, Head of the EU Investments Department on behalf of the Contracting Authority; Mr. Akif TURKEL, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye; Ms. Sıla YILDIRIM, Contract Manager; and officials from the Ministry.

In the first part of the meeting, Mr. Jose LAFFOND YGES, Project Team Leader on behalf of the contractor consortium, presented the completed and ongoing activities regarding the project’s progress. This was followed by a briefing from Ph. D Murat CAGATAY, Project Communication Expert, on the organizational preparations for the upcoming SUMP for Trabzon International Sustainable Mobility Conference.

In the second session, Mr. Taceddin KINAY, Transport Planning Expert, provided information on the actions identified in line with the ongoing work and presented the actions included in the SUMP for Trabzon Action Plan in detail.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views and feedback regarding suggestions on the SUMP for Trabzon Action Plan and the preparations for the conference organisation.
