The seventh Project Steering Committee Meeting within the scope of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for Trabzon was held on 21.05.2025, hosted by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, with the participation of the Directorate of EU Investments, the European Union Delegation to Türkiye, and the experts of the TYPSA & Boğaziçi Proje & KAISER Engineering consortium.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Fatih BAYRAKTAR, Deputy Senior Representative of the Final Beneficiary and Head of the Transportation Department at Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality; Mr. Akif TURKEL, Representative of the European Union Delegation to Türkiye; Ph.D Tijen IGCI, Head of the Directorate of EU Investments, on behalf of the Contracting Authority; Ms. Sıla YILDIRIM, Contract Manager; as well as officials from the Ministry.
In the first session, a comprehensive presentation on the completed and ongoing activities of the project was delivered by Mr. Jose LAFFOND YGES, Team Leader of the project on behalf of the TYPSA & Boğaziçi Proje & KAISER Engineering consortium. Following this, the outcomes of the stakeholder engagement activities and the action plan workshop were presented by Ph.D Murat CAGATAY, Communication Expert of the SUMP for Trabzon Project.
In the second session, detailed information on the actions identified within the scope of the ongoing works was shared by Mr. Taceddin KINAY, Urban Transport Planning Expert. Within the presentation, the actions classified under 11 main themes of the SUMP for Trabzon Action Plan were elaborated in detail. These themes included priority areas such as Active Mobility, Inclusiveness, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Road Safety, Public Transport Enhancement, and Sustainable Urban Logistics. Additionally, participants were provided with comprehensive information on the objectives, implementable actions, and expected impacts related to each theme.
The meeting concluded with the evaluation of proposed actions under the SUMP for Trabzon Action Plan and the feedback received from the participants.
